Hello, and welcome to beyondtheroad.co.uk.  Please bear with me as the website is still under construction so not all areas are populated with content.

The purpose of this site is to bring all my hobbies and activities together and make them accessible from one, easy to use location.  I have incorporated flickr albums and youtube videos throughout this website dispensing with the need to keep visiting different websites.

Why "beyond the road"?  Well, i believe there is more to be seen if you look harder.  Take travelling for example.  Whether in the UK or abroad, there are "honeypots", you know, the great views that everyone goes to see, that on most bank holidays are actually impossible to see anyway for the tourists.  My solution is to go "beyond the road", which means either going at a different season, at a different time of day, or to a slightly different location that may involve some walking to get to, not just a convenient car park.  "Beyond the road", also applies nicely to lots of ways of thinking, like not conforming to the things everyone else does, ie, not owning an iphone, and blatantly refusing to use itunes, not to mention using ubuntu as your main OS (not that i do that anymore, but it has its uses).  There is consumer choice out there, you just need to look harder, go "beyond the road", so to speak.

So through this site i hope to share stories of my travels, both abroad and the UK, through words, photography and video.
